 TheOregistrations for theXXIV FIG International Congress 2010 are now open. For the first time at an FIGCongress, the Call for Papers is open for both peer-review and non peer-reviewsubmissions.The FIG2010 Congress, hosted by the International Federation of Surveyors (FIG) andthe Surveying & Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI), is expected tobring together over 2000 participants from 100 countries. The Congresswill encompass a full professional program consisting of more than 700technical and poster papers in 100 sessions, workshops, pre-congress seminarsin addition to four plenary sessions focusing on the hot issues of the globalagenda and of our profession.The Callfor Papers for the XXIV FIG International Congress 2010 is now open. TheCall for Papers will close on 22 September 2010. For more details on submittinga paper, please check the event website.Young IncentiveForprofessionals under 36 who are thinking of submitting a paper, there will be a FIGCongress Prize for Young Surveyors.The FIG Foundation also is offering the FIGFoundation Fellowship and up to six FIG Foundation Awards in connection withattendance at the FIG2010 Congress. Who will besubmitting a technical paper has the opportunity to be on the same program asprofessionals as Australian of the Year Professor Tim Flannery, GSDI PresidentAbbas Rajabifard, the UN's Dr Paul Munro-Faure, Google's Ed Parsons and NSWChief Scientist, Mary O'Kane. Rub shoulders with the FIG President StigEnemark, NSW Surveyor-General Warwick Watkins, PAIGH Secretary General SantiagoBorrero and the UN's Dr Daniel Fitzpatrick.‘YoungSurveyors Beyond Horizons’ Pre-Congress ToursDiscoverthe Australian Outback by flying to Alice Springsand traversing your way down to the centre of the continent to celebrate the150th anniversary of the raising of the flag on Central Mount Stuart. Have a“grape” time in the famous Barossa Valley, sampling spatialapplications in the Wine Industry. Boldly go where no man has gone before atthe Mt Stromlo Observatory in Canberra, or trekinto the hills to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the marking of theborders of the Australian Capital Territory. These three tours for the young and theyoung-at-heart are a great introduction to a memorable Congress, but availabilityis limited.
